Tanglagan Elementary School is 42 kilometres away from the district office, it is situated at the eastern part of Gattaran at the foot of the Sierra Madre.
Longing for children’s education, the resident thought of putting up a building and this was made possible in 1964. It was then made up of kugon and bamboo. A native of Casicallan, Gattaran, Cagayan was the first teacher assigned in the Barangay named Filomena dela Pena.
Due to increase of population, there was a need to put up another building to accommodate school children. Year 2000, two-room building was put up coming from the Department of Education Culture and Sports with the help of the people in the community.
It was school year 2006-2007, when Tanglagan Primary School became complete Elementary School, thus Tanglagan Elementary School.
During the first year of operation as complete Elementary, it had 118 populations, 18 of whom were among the pioneer graduates, 10 boys and 8 girls respectively with Mr Rex Tomas as the Teacher In-Charge assigned by the District Supervisor then.
School year 2007-2008, there was again an abrupt increase in the enrolment with total of 165, 96 boys and 69 girls respectively. There are transferees coming from neighbouring school and balik-aral pupils that causes the increase in the enrolment rate. As the need arises, no of teachers were also increased to promote basic education to the learners. Six teachers served the school children, Three (3) permanent teachers two (2) LGU and one (1) PSB.
A designated Teacher In-Charge was installed in the school year 2010-2011 in the month of September in the person of Mrs Marvelyn N. Colobong, the teacher who undergone the division ranking and finally made up it top. As its population grew, it became a single class per grade. Seven strong teachers worked for the betterment of the pupils and for the improvement of the school thus making it possible for them to have received blessings from the kind-hearted father of the town, Mayor Ramon C. Nolasco through the initiative of the supportive Barangay Captain Bernardo O. Cabling.
School year 2012-2013, Tanglagan Elementary School has 261 population, 142 boys and 119 girls with five (5) permanent teachers, one (1) LGU and one (1) PSB under the leadership of Mrs Heliconida P. Domingo as the Teacher In-Charge.
School year 2013-2017 the school has abrupt increased of enrolment with five permanent teachers and managed by an Officer In-Charge. Teachers worked harmoniously with the stakeholders in the implementation of programs and projects of the school.
