Historical Background of Malilitao Elementary School

The Malilitao Elementary School, founded in 1934 is one of the barrio schools in Claveria East District. It is located in Brgy. Malilitao, Claveria, Cagayan and is approximately 10 kilometers eastward from the town proper.

The school has a total area of 5,892 sq.m. and was donated by Mr. Maximo Alog of Brgy. Malilitao. In the year 2018, There were still six buildings erected on it namely: the PTA Building, the oldest building constructed in 1975 with a floor area of 72 sq.m. which was used as Grade V Room but it was demolished by year 2018 and was replaced by the Yolanda Type and recently it is occupied as Grades 4-6 classroom; the BLSB Building built in 1976 with a floor area of 144 sq.m. where the Kindergarten ,Grades I and II classes are being housed at present (major repairs were done too, to prolong its life span); the Marcos Pre-Fab made in 1977 with a floor area of 126 sq.m and was demolished in the year 2018 and replaced with a Yolanda-typed building; another is the BLSB Building with an area of 48 sq. m. constructed in 1985 which is utilized as the Grade VI Room until school year 2018-2019 and it was already used as the ICT Room; the BOD built in 1992 with a floor area of 48 sq.m. which now serves as the Multi-Purpose Room (Home Economics and Canteen); and the Carino Building with a floor area of 56 sq.m. which is the Administration/ Office Room.

During the past few decades, the school is serving its neighboring barangays like Brgy. Buenavista and Brgy. San Isidro and Brgy. Sto. Tomas (when the intermediate pupils of the above mentioned places have no other access for formal education than to attend classes in Malilitao E/S because Buenavista- San Isidro E/S was a Primary School yet during those times as well as Sto. Tomas .The school has already produced numerous productive alumni/ professionals who excelled in their chosen field of endeavor. These products of the school are trying to keep in touch and even created an account for Malilitao E/S in support to whatever activities, programs and projects of the institution in which the school is so proud of for this shows that they are really sensitive for the welfare of their Alma Mater.

In March,1995 and March 1996, the school was awarded a Certificate of Recognition because of 100% passing the National Elementary Achievement Test (NEAT). Moreover, for two consecutive school years, the school has produced winners in the Division Honors Society Math Bowl Grade VI (3^rd Place-SY 2013-2014; 4^th Place SY 2014-2015). School Year 2015-2016, Malilitao Elementary School produced again a contestant who won 6^th place in the Regional Press Conference and 8^th place in the Division Spelling Contest ( Ortograpiyang Filipino). Likewise, school year 2019-2020, the school has produced another winner in the Regional Schools Press Conference who ranked first place in Collaborative Writing and Desktop Publishing ( Editorial Writing Filipino ) which bring a lot of fame of the school .There had been lots of contestants of the school that won district contests and were automatically representing the district in higher levels of academic as well as sports competition.

Moreover, MES joined for the first time the Division Search for Best Brigada Implementer 2015(Small School Category) and it ranked number 2, 2^nd Runner up ( SY 2016-2017 and SY 2017-2018). Another remarkable accomplishment of the school before year 2015 ended was the first of its kind Grand Alumni Homecoming, thereby electing the new set of officers with Engr. Elpidio Mandac as the first alumni president while Mr. Edwin Galano was also elected as the second Alumni President in the Year 2019.

The immeasurable support of parents, the incomparable concern of alumni, and the assistance of other stakeholders of the school inspired every teacher of Malilitao Elementary School in giving out their best towards the attainment of the DepEd Vision and Mission.
