Sta. Margarita West Elementary School is one of the oldest schools in the municipality of Baggao, being opened in 1988. Because schools were scarce at that time, children of neighboring barangays came and enrolled in SMWES since it was the only barangay in the area with an elementary school.
The school is fifth to the central school in terms of population of school children in the district. It is used to have almost three hundred enrolments. However, because of the opening of primary schools in the nearby barangays, the school's population decreased.
Another reason is the scattered geographical locations of the different zones and sitios in which some of these are nearer to schools nearby barangays. is the reason why parents opt to enroll their children. At present, ( school year 2018-2019 ), the enrolment from kindergarten to grade Six is Two Hundred Eighty Six ( 286 ) and ten ( 10 )nationally paid teachers, and is headed by a Head Teacher Ill
The school is located at the heart of the barangay with Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Thirteen square meters ( 7,913 sq. m. ). It has spacious gymnasium where pupils may play during their five time. At the back part of the school ground is a One fourth school garden where the school gets some of its resources.
Classroom shortage is one of the concerns of our school because it has only seven (6) existing good instructional rooms and among the six classrooms , only one met the standard size of classroom and others need minor repair. With this situation, there is a need to request to the DepEd authorities to construct or repair the dilapidated classrooms, indeed classroom is an Immediate priority of the school.
Despite of the deficiency on Physical Plants Facilities, SMWES is still one of the performing schools in the division as a whole. However, the school is really in need of these things to make learning more meaningful and interesting.
The school has also a lot of winnings from the institutionalized contested activities both in academic and non-academic activities. Its dedication and cooperation in the community made Sta. Margarita West Elementary School a good partner for leadership and governance. As a manifestation, our school was a producer of Journalists.
But despite of these achievements, the school still needs a lot of improvements. It still has some of its limitations and weaknesses that need to be addressed to realize its vision, mission and goals.
To respond more effectively to the needs and challenges of the new millennium and at the same time to the attainment of quality education towards a Filipino culture of excellence; hence the School Improvement Plan is a jumpstart towards the improvement of educational system.
