Philippines started to implement the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum in the school year 2012-2013. And so, in line with that, Marus Elementary School strictly follows and mandates and the demands in meeting the standards of this basic education curriculum
K-12 basic education curriculum aims to upgrade and improve Filipino Pupils’ skills in Math, Science, and linguistics to further exhibit competence in the global job market.
In Marus Elementary School, teachers always perform at their best in delivering quality and sufficient foundation skills to the learners. The school head assures that K to 12 curriculum’s standards are being attained.
Teachers are sent to attend seminars and join webinars to ensure that they upgrade themselves to cater to the needs of the millennial learners.
Strict and hands-on monitoring are being conducted by the PSDS and the school head to make sure that each learner acquires the learning they deserve to gain, and regular observations and technical assistance are given to the teachers to ensure the success of the teaching-learning process and new normal schooling set-up
Marus Elementary School offers complete Basic Education Curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Kindergarten is a program that offers developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for 5-year old children to build their social and academic skills to prepare them for the transition into first grade and for the school in general. Our curriculum is referred to as K-12 Basic Education Curriculum. It aims to enhance learners’ basic skills, produce more competent citizens and prepare graduates for lifelong learning and employment. But because of the COVID-19, the Department of Education developed a Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BELCP), a package of education interventions, it provides clear guidance to all offices, units, schools, and community learning centers of the department, learners and their parents, partners, and stakeholders. This is the Department’s response to the challenges posed by COVID-19 in the field of basic education.
The BELCP streamlines the K to 12 Curriculum into the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) to be delivered in multiple learning modalities. This is an emergency measure to allow instruction amid challenging circumstances to focus on the Most Essential Learning, and to ease the requirements for adapting classroom based learning resource for distance learning. Releasing the MELCs does not diminish the standards set by the full K to 12 curriculum guides. Rather, this serve as one of the guides for teachers as they address the instructional needs of learners while ensuring that curriculum standards are maintained and achieved.
