It was believed that the first inhabitants were the Ybanags. These Ybanag people ruled the barangay. Since then, the Ybanags are fond of barters, people from Vigan, Laoag, Batac and other parts of Ilocos Region frequently visited the place. Until quite some time, these Ilocanos were able to purchase their own lots and decided to live in this place. As time goes by, the Ybanag people were gradually in population and Ilocanos are increasing vastly in population. The Ybanag people contested with the Ilocanos in their businesses, politics and other activities but the Ybanags are stronger enough still to defeat the Ilocanos. As their conflict becomes stronger, another group wanted to mingle but a certain Ybanag uttered “Paru dun kamu, mapparuddun kamu ta Norte.” Which means you move to the northern part.Since then, there were already three groups of people in the whole area of Paruddun Sur, Paruddun Sur was then divided into three Barangays such as : Mabanguc, Paruddun Sur and Paruddun Norte. At the onset of the educational system in Paruddun, According to the people who first live in this barangay, the children have their first informal education at the house of Emeterio Puma as their learning center which was started on January 1, 1936. Here, they started to learn how to read and write with their teacher Mrs. Danao of Aparri East who also live on their house. In 1942, schooling was stopped because people were afraid of the Japanese who arrived in this place which was accommodated by Teniente Del Bario Miguel Marinas. In 1947 Francisco Madriaga donated a portion of his lot measuring 9,065 square meters wherein they will put-up a school through the initiative of Teniente Del Bario Miguel Marinas. It was just like an old house with a stair compose of three steps facing west. It was composed of four grade levels , Grades 1-4 ,so it was then called Paruddun Sur Primary School. Children on the fifth and sixth grade were enrolled and attended at nearby barangays, namely : Barangay Mabanguc and Barangay Paruddun Norte. According to the first settlers of Barangay Paruddun Sur, originally, this is the widest barangay among all the barangays of In 1950-1962, To lessen the burden Grades 5 and 6 parents, Barangay Officials headed by the Teniente Del Bario Pablo Pascua had initiated and completed the school up to 6th grade .
