MASICAL THROUGH THE YEARS
Accordingly, it was founded in 1902. Its name was gotten from a plant called “sikal” in which this plant used by community folks for the roofing of their houses. And now barangay “sikal” was called Barangay Masical. It has a total land area of 72,525 hectares of which the area includes rice fields, cornfields and residential area. The main products are corn, rice and tobacco.

Barangay Masical has a total population of 2,155 with 989 males and 1,166 females, 435 households and 385 household heads.

Located more than 13 kilometres North-south of Cordova, there lies the quaint Masical Elementary School. With the desire of breaking illiteracy among community folks, Masical Elementary School was instituted school year 1945 – 1946 with an initial population of 102 from Grades I and VI.

Masical Elementary School is indeed one of the performing schools in Amulung West District and one of the biggest schools in the district. Masical Elemenatary School achieved 91.71% MPS in Grade VI for school year 2014-2015 which shows that the school performance is above the National Standard set by the Department of Education. At present, the school has 180 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade VI, headed by a Principal I position with 7 committed and dedicated teachers who are occupying different teaching positions such as Master Teacher I is 1, Teacher III is 5 and Teacher I is 1. As of now, the school has seven academic classrooms and 1 non-academic being utilized as school office/computer room.

The school had organized a functional PTA who supports the projects and programs of the school and Child Protection Committee who ensures the safety and protection of the school children.

The school is also conducting School Based Feeding Program to sustain the nutritional status of children through the financial support of the parents, school canteen and Gulayan sa Paaralan Program.
