Historical Background of Baquilao Barangay School
( now San Esteban Elementary School )
Baquilao Barangay School (now San Esteban Elementary School) was established sometime in 1950 and since then up to the present, they had been occupying a parcel of land; which is now identified as Lot 2604, Pls. 497 where four (4) concrete buildings were constructed to accommodate the school children of San Esteban, Alcala, Cagayan. An officer-in-charge heads the elementary school and its teaching staff composed of six (6) permanent teachers .The school population needs to increase every year and at present they have one hundred seventy five (175) pupils enrolled.
The rest of the area is utilized as playground and its planted ornamental plants and forest trees. Resolution # 04, S.2002 was executed by the Sanggunian Members of Alcala, Cagayan waving the right of the Municipal Government in favour of San Esteban Elementary School, Department of Education that they offer no objection for the issuance of Presidential Proclamation.
