A Historical Account of Caoayan Kiling Elementary School
Bamboo is flexible, bending with the wind but never breaking, capable of adapting to any circumstance. It suggests resilience, meaning that we have the ability to bounce back even from the most difficult times. Our ability to thrive depends, in the end, on our attitude to our life circumstances. Take everything in stride with grace, putting forth energy when it is needed, yet always staying calm inwardly.
Caoayan Kiling Elementary School is allegorically depicted as similar to the tallest yet humble grass – the Bamboo.
Caoayan Kiling Elementary School is founded by the resilient and generous family clan of Paronable and Vital during the year 1962.
Our barangay on the other hand which the school was situated was once called “Kawayan Kiling”. It got its name from a bamboo clump named Kiling which grew at the center of the place. For its name to be unique, they agreed to change Kawayan to Caoayan thus, it was named Caoayan Kiling.
The barrio was established sometime in the year 1853. The original families who came to settle the place are the family Bautista, Solomon, Baysic, Bravo and Samera.
The tenientes from the earliest time was Vicente Bautista and his nickname was Mangaldan.
The sitio Numero Uno was called this way because whenever the Caveza de Barangay wanted someone to meet him in the said place, he mentioned his number one sweetheart or Par-Amor living in the said sitio. The sitio had become the Educational Center as where the school site is situated at present,
After the World War II, the important occurrences were the construction and rebuilding the last fate and building roads for the people.
At July 4, 1945, the day of ours came when the United States gave our independents. Ours is a great joy and opportunity to do all the possible means to reconstruct our country. Destruction of lives, properties and institution during wars especially in 1896-1954.
As education progress as much as enjoying cause of the important measures of congress in the underlying activities of our teachers, what made them the greatest manpower of educating our youth, and much more the putting away illiteracy in our country. This system which allows a pupil to graduate after completing six grade. It gives an opportunity to our youth. The increased salary of teachers and the progress of the community as a whole. All these are important progress of the country.
At present, Caoayan Kiling Elementary School has a total population of four-hundred sixty-one (461) learners with sixteen (16) passionate and dedicated permanent teachers, and one (1) Security Guard (Job Order) under the leadership of Mr. Edgar M. Samera, as the School Principal.
The school is situated along the highway bound to Urbiztondo, Pangasinan. It is about 7 kilometers away from the city proper. The school consists of thirteen (13) rooms, (1) one Home Economics room, one (1) ICT room, a mini covered court, a Principal’s office and a Stock room. There are four (4) classrooms which need to condemn.
Caoayan Kiling Elementary School has a land area of 577 square meter.
The Community and the School: Its History and Creation
How the school began?
The first classroom was made of partitioned bamboo as its wall and a nipa hut style when it comes to its structure.
Pioneered by the first ever school head, Maria Ferrer during the year 1962.
