Composition

Composition refers to the way the different parts of an artwork are arranged – where they are in the image, and how they relate to each other

Static composition

Creates the impression of immobility, a lack of movement
Main lines are usually horizontal and vertical

Dynamic composition

Creates an impression of movement
Main lines are often diagonal and/or curved

Examples of Static Compositions

(Mostly horizontal and vertical lines, little to no movement)

Examples of Dynamic Compositions

(Mostly diagonal and curved lines, lots of movement around the artwork)
