Field Methods

Our process

When we get to a field site we determine a hundred meter test area. Then two of us doing the Large woody debris survey and the other person doing the Quality Habitat survey. Then we go into testing the Ph, Conductivity, flow speed, and the temperature of the river. This is finished up with the Macro-invertebrate index where we all look underneath rocks. This process can take between an hour and a hour and a half.

The tools

We bring an assortment of items to the field with us; Two meter sticks, a 50 meter tape, nets, flow meter, and a Ph measuring tool.

APERA Tool; This tool allows us to find The Ph and the Conductivity of the water

Flow Meter; This allows for us to find the speed of the water moving the river and temperature.
