My research focuses on the political, social, and cultural history of Classical Athens, ancient immigration, ancient theories of race/ethnicity, the politics of identity (political, gendered, and ethnic, racial) and the reception of ancient ethno-racial ideas in modern race science. My primary teaching interests are in Greek and Latin language, race and ethnicity, women and gender, Greek and Roman history, especially involving active pedagogies like Reacting to the Past and the reception of ancient ideas in modern contexts.
