The event "Talks at the table in the open air" was organized by both the Europe Challenge Valmiera team and the neighborhood community, which gathers around the "Lamb Club". The local community, which gathers to share stories about their surroundings, families and history, is active group that takes part in local initiatives, help each other and share a local identity.
Participants were enjoying lamb soup, waffles, coffee, and were watching the video of the conversation festival LAMPA. LAMPA is a platform for meaningful discussions and negotiations. LAMPA is convinced - it all starts with a conversation.
What did we watch? (https://festivalslampa.lv/lv/video-arhivs/1537) The conversation “Suppression of privacy and personal freedom” was looking for answers to the questions: Why have authorities always tried to keep control over people's privacy? Does the loss of intimate freedom help destroy people's ability to resist oppression? How does historical experience affect modern Latvian society and its attitude towards a person's private life?
The event brought together active members of the county. Negotiations over dinner are an informal way to bring people from different parts of the county together to share experiences and views, talk about local issues and find common goals. Video we watched served as a facilitator and discussion initiator. Dialogue is the basis of development.
Valmiera Library, in cooperation with local community, helps to promote the participation of residents in various processes, as well as reminds of the possibility for associations to use the resources available in the library for their needs - information, technologies, premises.
The event was attended by 25 participants, 21 of whom answered the questions included in the questionnaire:
