This year, Cedaredge High School welcomed a new vice principal and athletic director. Heather Dunbar, Cedaredge Middle’s former vice principal and current head coach for CHS Volleyball, hopes to do her part in the school to make it a better place.

Mrs. Dunbar moved to the high school after 11 years of being a teacher and vice principal. She worked for 5 years as a science teacher for the middle school before taking on the role of vice principle. A long time contributor in the middle school, Mrs. Dunbar was a positive influence for staff and students alike. Her time at the middle school was filled with love and lots of fun, cherished by teachers and all of her students.

Mrs. Dunbar said it “ wasn’t easy or hard transferring, because the kids are different and it's a different situation.” She plans to use skills learned from her time at the middle school to connect better with the students and other teachers at the high school.

Mrs. Dunbar is a well known volleyball coach and has coached for 15 years. She loves coaching because she gets to work with kids and help them improve and become better. Mrs Dunbar has always loved kids, especially while coaching and teaching. When she is coaching she tries to connect with the team members and attempts to make connections to their lives and help them make a difference in the community. To Mrs. Dunbar, building an athlete means improving their character off the court as well as their performance on the court.

Mrs. Dunbar has many plans to help at Cedaredge High. She plans to use some of her coaching skills to connect with students and improve the culture of listening and meeting expectations. She also hopes to help students by staying consistent but flexible for different situations that may pop up. Mrs. Dunbar plans to not necessarily change the high school but improve it. In the end, she is already making it a great place for students to learn and connect with their peers, and Cedaredge High School is eager to welcome her!
