In 2019, all Elementary schools received the Take Action for Reconciliation series by Scholastic Canada in English and all Elementary French Immersion schools have received the series in French: Passe à l’action pour la réconciliation.
This series focuses on Indigenous communities across Canada, the need for reconciliation, and the actions people are taking to make a difference.
Through these examples, students will realize that they too can have an impact and work towards reconciliation.
Scholastic Canada brought together Indigenous educators from across the country for advice to develop the resource. They contributed articles, photographs, ideas, expertise, wisdom, and perspectives and oversaw every aspect of the resource.
This resource is suitable for grades 3 to 7. All of the units come with Teacher Guides and are vetted by a First Nation Advisory Board. A lot of the information is great learning for teachers.
