The skeleton is typically divided into two sections, the appendicular and the axial. The axial skeleton includes the skull, the spine and what is commonly referred to as the ribcage. The appendicular skeleton includes the arms and legs, as well as the shoulders and the pelvis. The most important bones and features significant to the understanding of anthropology are included in this lab. Please consult the lists of terms in each section for the terms you will be required to learn in this lab course.
Study Tip: It may be helpful to color or draw pictures as you go along to distinguish bones, features, and landmarks.
