I received a t-shirt quilt that represents me from elementary school to the present. Each square has a story to tell, I'm looking forward to sharing my stories and hearing yours as well.
My name is Vickie Anderson and I am pleased to be the Kindergarten Spanish Immersion teacher for Ashley Falls. I have been in bilingual immersion education for 31 years as a K-4 teacher, coach, and administrator on Long Island, New York, the Bay Area in Northern California, and now Del Mar. I completed my undergraduate degree and teacher education program at the University of California San Diego, received a Master's degree in multilingual education from Adelphi University in New York, and hold a California Administrative Services Credential.

What to Expect in Kindergarten
Learning about other languages and cultures has always been my passion and sharing my passion with students and their families is what I love about immersion education. Knowing other languages has not only opened up career opportunities for me, but it has allowed me to connect with people from many different countries in a variety of situations. This year I hope to spark the love of learning in two languages with this new group of immersion kindergarteners in Del Mar. We will focus on building language proficiency in both Spanish and English, achieving academic excellence in all subjects (in both languages), and cultivating a strong sense of self while developing positive attitudes towards others with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Life Outside of the Eagle's Nest
My family and I just moved to the area in July. I have been married for 25 years and have three sons, Victor, Peter, and Timo. Now that they are older, I am finding new ways to occupy my time. I enjoy reading recipes and trying out new cuisines. I love going on adventures, finding areas I have not been to before, as there always seems to be something amazing to see. There are many places around the country and world I would like to visit but for now I am enjoying finding outdoor spaces nearby to explore.
