The Zones of Regulation is like a map for our feelings and energy levels! The four zones help us identify, understand and manage our emotions.
Within the Zones of Regulation, students will learn about the size of the problem. This is an important skill because we want to ensure that the size of our problem matches the size of our reaction.
What is a calm corner?
A calm corner is a place for children to pause, reset and regulate.
When might you use a calm corner?
when your child is experiencing a big emotion
when your child is overstimulated
when your child is not listening
when your child needs a break from screen time
when your child is transitioning from a high energy activity to a calmer activity that requires more focus
Note: A calm corner is a peaceful place to reset and should not be used as a punishment. Try to make it technology free!
