The School with A Heart!

Hello and welcome to Carmel Del Mar!  My name is Dianna Holmes and I am excited to be starting another school year at CDM!
I have been teaching at CDM since 1997 and I have taught second grade, third grade, kindergarten, and first grade.  I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a double major in elementary and special education.  I taught in Illinois and Nevada before moving here to California.  When I began teaching in California, I returned to school to complete a masters degree in education at Chapman University.
I am looking forward to getting to know your family as we work together to make this a great year of learning and growing!

I believe that all students are unique and that they each have something special to bring to our classroom.  I will assist my students as they learn to express themselves, help them to reach their fullest potential, and teach them to have compassion and empathy for others.

In the classroom, students will learn to be readers, writers, scientists, mathematicians, and artists.  Students will learn how to work independently and with peers.  Students will practice the academic and social skills needed to be successful students and lifelong learners.  One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching the amazing amount of growth students make in a school year!

Life Outside of the Dragon's Lair

My family and I live in Mira Mesa.  My husband is native to San Diego, and he works as a CPA in LaJolla.  My two daughters attended CDM when they were younger.  My oldest daughter is currently enrolled at Cal State San Marcos and my youngest daughter is at Sacramento State.  As a family, we like to spend time together traveling during summer breaks.  I like to read, garden, and take walks in my free time.
