Welcome to
Ashley Falls School
Ashley Falls School
I was born and grew up in the Midwest. I earned my BS in Education from Iowa State University and an MA in Education and Curriculum from Point Loma University. I also hold CLAD and GATE certificates. This will be my 37th year of teaching, and my 27th here at Ashley Falls. I have taught every grade level. This will be my 13th year in 5th grade, which is my favorite grade to teach!
You can find me at: kpike@dmusd.org (858)259-7812 Ext 3054
I believe that a classroom should be a safe, caring community where students can become effective communicators, independent learners, motivated critical thinkers, innovators, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I want each of my students to be excited to come to Room 504 every day!
I believe my job as a teacher is to facilitate that process and help students learn by doing, exploring, and solving problems. I'm here to support them every step of the way and help them achieve to their highest potential.
Expect a lot of meaningful, engaging learning and fun in 5th Grade! From the Solar System to the Revolutionary War and the writing of our Constitution, to incredible stories and elevating writing, and lots of cool Math, students will experience an incredible year of growth.
I am the proud mom of two grown kids. Both kids are successfully adulting, with my daughter living and working in Chicago and my son in Dallas where he just bought his first home. Both are Ashley Falls alumni and attended Torrey Pines HS. When not teaching my awesome 5th Graders, I love to hike Torrey Pines, play pickleball, travel, go to the movies, watch sports (Go KC Chiefs and Royals, Dallas Stars, and Iowa State Cyclones!) and spend time with family and friends. I live in the neighborhood and can often be seen out and about, so be sure to say hi!
