Welcome to
Del Mar Hills Academy

My name is Jacqueline Scholz, and this is my 12th year in education. I studied in Florida at Florida Southern College where I earned a Bachelor of Arts. Next, I made a home in beautiful San Diego, earning a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning at Point Loma Nazarene University. Upon completion, I relocated to Kauai, where I began my elementary teaching career in 5th and 6th grade. It is an honor and privilege to work with the students and families at Del Mar Hills!

Educational Philosophy & Expectations

I am a devoted teaching professional with a focus on growth mindset. I work to instill in students a love for learning and a willingness to take academic risks in a safe and nurturing environment. The privilege of shaping young minds is not one to be taken lightly, and I teach from the perspective that each child is capable, unique, and learns differently. One of my essential jobs as a teacher is to help students discover their individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. Fifth grade is an incredible year of growth and discovery!

Life Outside of School

When I am not teaching, you will find me playing with my eight year old son, enjoying nature, and connecting with family and friends. I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and have been chasing sunshine ever since leaving the city for college.  "Know what sparks the light in you. Then use that light to illuminate the world!" -Oprah Winfrey
