4th Grade at Sage Canyon!
Hello! My name is Gina Abbamonte, and I am so excited to be your child's 4th grade teacher this year! I am looking forward to a wonderful year together. I graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development. I then went on and received my multiple subject teaching credential from SDSU as well. I became a part of the Sage Canyon family in 2013. I am so lucky to be able to work with such amazing children, families, and staff.

When I am not in the classroom, you can find me on my family ranch in Descanso or at an SDSU sporting event.
I am a huge AZTEC basketball fan. I have season tickets, and go to every home game with my dad.
This is my miniature donkey, Jacob. He loves back scratches and carrots!

As an educator, it is my goal and passion to provide every child with an equal opportunity to succeed as a student, individual, and life-long learner. Children are our future. I believe that every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. Children need a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially. I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, and where they are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas.
Every classroom is composed of an unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities but also in learning styles. My role as an educator is to provide my students with the tools they need to nurture their own knowledge and growth. To accomplish this, I teach to the needs of each of my students. It is crucial that each one of my students feels capable and successful. I develop and implement curriculum that incorporates the interests of my students, making their learning relevant to life experiences. I use a variety of teaching strategies including thinking routines, design thinking, and hands on learning in order to make each student an active participant in their education.
Students will become responsible members of our classroom community. Our classroom will be a safe, caring, and equitable environment where each child can thrive and mature. Positive reinforcement and classroom meetings are classroom management strategies that I use. I teach my students to become responsible for themselves and their learning. They learn to be respectful of themselves, others, and the environment.
Teaching provides me with an opportunity for continuous learning and growth. I learn from the parents and community members, my fellow colleagues, and especially from my students. Teaching opens my eyes and heart to the joys, innocence, and diversity found among all of my students. It is one of my many goals to ignite a passion and enthusiasm for learning within each child. I, like my students, will continue to blossom as a learner and as an educator. I am looking forward to an empowering and life changing year with all of my students.
Fourth grade is an exciting year where students learn to become independent and take responsibility for their own educational journey! We will begin to prepare students for the rigorous expectations that will be required in the years to come. There are so many things to learn, including fractional understanding and operations in math, citing evidence to support response to literature and nonfiction, multi-paragraph writing in all 3 genres, California history, and science!
