1:1 Hybrid Model

As part of the Soar with MENTOR growth experience, a Level 2 1:1 hybrid model will be implemented in Cohort 7.

The Level 2 1:1 hybrid model will consist of:

1.  Student mentees and industry members agree to a 1:1 mentorship relationship within the timing/schedule of Cohort 7.  

2. The student and mentor pairing will view the posted content on their own time and make arrangements to meet synchronously at a mutually convenient time within the timeframe of the SwM sessions.  Some tools to facilitate scheduling meetings are listed below.

3. At the synchronous meeting, the student and mentor will access the mentorship conversation guide to promote a conversation about the content.

4. This process will be repeated 4 times during the cohort. The student and mentor pairings will stay consistent throughout the cohort.

5. Both the student and mentor are asked to complete and submit the program evaluation to continue to improve the program.

6. The student and mentor pairings will be invited to attend  synchronous sessions to support the community culture, including: an onboarding session, a social mid cohort and celebration at the end of the cohort.  

7. The Level 2 hybrid student and mentor pairings will be receive swag and additional opportunities according to attendance and participation.

Scheduling Tools 

In the Level 2 1:1 hybrid model, activities are conducted in a combination of asynchronous and synchronous sessions over the course of four sessions during the cohort.   In this model, the mentee is responsible for reaching out to schedule the synchronous meeting with the mentor.  Some tools to help with scheduling include:

Asynchronous Activities

The following activities are conducted asynchronously:

1. The mentor / mentee pairings are introduced

2. The student will reach out and set up meetings according to the session schedule - four meetings over the course of the 3 months.  Each meeting should be scheduled for a maximum of 30 minutes.

3. Both mentor and mentee view the course content as it is scheduled.

Synchronous Activities

Each synchronous session between the mentor/mentee is structured as follows:

1. Kick off each meeting with a conversation around the community builder activity.  Each activity has been designed to capture your ideas and interests, which in turn, helps to build relationships within the mentor pair, as well as with the asynchronous community.

2. Discuss the Career Readiness and Tech Today videos using the provided questions in the conversation guide as a support.

3. Confirm any follow ups as well as the dates/times for any upcoming scheduled meetings.

4. Post some of your learning, interactions and aha moments on social media - make sure to use #SoarwithMENTOR!
