Courtney James currently serves as the director in Student Involvement at DePaul University. In her role, she supervises student organizations, campus activities, fraternity & sorority life, and Esports. She volunteers with the National Association for Campus Activities including serving as the co-chair to the NACA/NIRSA Esports Task Force. Courtney will be one of the featured speakers at the Academic Esports Conference and Expo in Chicago this Fall, speaking on a topic that is front of mind for many in the esports community, especially with students working and playing from home during the coronavirus pandemic: bystander intervention, or recognizing harmful content or actions and reporting it properly.

Moderator - Tim Belloff, Director of Esports, Acadia University


Belloff was named the as the esports program director in June of 2019. Belloff, who already serves as the University's Director of Academic Technology Services as well as teaching a first-year seminar about video games, oversees the program's recruiting efforts, the hiring of coaches for each sponsored game (Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch and Rocket League), while also providing oversight on the competition arena.

Michael Witzel - Director of Esports at the Academy of Art University​


Michael Witzel began his career in technology and communications in the US Marines. There he built large scale communication networks from the ground up. Michael pivoted into the gaming industry and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Academy of Art’s School of Game Development. Michael combined his passion for games and esports and created the ArtU Esports Program in 2016. He continues to progress the program forward with the goal of making it the number 1 collegiate esports program in the world. ​


David Goodwine - Executive Director for the School of Game Development at the Academy of Art University​


David Goodwine has been instructing and managing the department for the past 11 years. He is an Illustration/2D Animation graduate of the Academy of Art University. He has been in the entertainment industry for 20+ years, including 16 years in games. David has worked for companies such as Wildbrain, PDI/Dreamworks, Electronic Arts, and Crystal Dynamics to name a few. ​ Films David has worked on include Evolution, The Mexican, The Deep End, The Legend of Bagger Vance and Shrek 3D. Game credits include games such as Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers; Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Project: Snowblind, and Tomb Raider: Legend. ​

Marcy Ventle is a Lubbock native and a CTE Educator and Administrator in Lubbock ISD for 11 years. She currently serves at the Lubbock ISD Esports lead.

Aislyn Laurent is the Assistant Esports Coordinator for the brand new esports program starting this September at the University of Windsor. She's currently finishing a double major in Biochemistry and Computer Science and working on research in computational chemistry and data analytics. As a strong community leader she's also worked as Google's Women Techmakers Ambassador for the Windsor region. Her goal is to encourage students to excel academically by supporting them in their passion for video games. ​

Todd Harris co-founded Hi-Rez Studios, one of the largest video game studios in the Southeast, and is currently Chairman of the Atlanta Esports Alliance and Founder & CEO of Skillshot Media, an esports infrastructure and solution company. Skillshot has hosted thousands of competitions, paid out over $10M in prizing and delivered over 1 billion views of esports content. Skillshot also powers varsity collegiate competition with member universities awarding over $16M in esports scholarships. ​
