THIS MONTH @
"The Rock"
Coming Soon!
Good afternoon, Stone Mountain High School Students and Families,
Welcome to Week 5 at The Rock! We have officially completed our first month of the 2026–2027 school year, and now is the time to continue building on the routines, expectations, and academic habits we have established.
Our focus this week is Focus, Follow-Through & Finish Strong! Students, continue taking ownership of your attendance, academics, behavior, and overall success.
⏰ ARRIVE BY 8:10 A.M. – EVERY MINUTE MATTERS!
Parents and guardians, we continue to need your support with morning arrival. We are still seeing students arrive after the school day has started.
Please help us ensure students arrive on campus by 8:10 a.m. each morning. Arriving on time allows students to transition into the building, get to class, and begin their day prepared for learning.
Being present is important. Being on time is important. Every minute of instruction matters!
📈 MAP TESTING – MAKE-UPS CONTINUE
We will continue MAP Testing make-ups this week for students who have not completed their required assessments.
Students who are called for make-up testing should report promptly to their assigned testing location and give their best effort. MAP results provide valuable information that helps teachers identify student strengths and areas where additional support may be needed.
📚 CHECK YOUR GRADES – KNOW WHERE YOU STAND!
We are five weeks into the school year, and students should know where they stand academically in every class.
Students, make it a habit to:
•Check your grades regularly in Infinite Campus.
•Complete and submit assignments on time.
•Check for missing assignments.
•Communicate with your teachers when you need help.
•Attend tutorials and take advantage of opportunities for additional support.
Parents and guardians, please regularly monitor Infinite Campus. Staying informed now gives us an opportunity to provide support before a student falls behind.
📵 DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT
Our Disconnect to Reconnect expectations continue. Students are expected to follow the school's cell phone procedures throughout the instructional day.
Classrooms are equipped with cell phone pouches to help create focused, distraction-free learning environments.
Disconnect from the phone. Reconnect with your learning.
🚫 20/20 RULE
Students, remember that hall passes will not be issued during the first 20 minutes or the last 20 minutes of class.
Please take care of personal needs during appropriate times and follow all teacher directions regarding hall passes. Our goal is to keep students in class and maximize instructional time.
🎒 CLEAR OR MESH BOOK BAGS
All student book bags must continue to be clear or mesh. Please arrive each day with an approved book bag and the materials needed for your classes.
👕 DRESS FOR SUCCESS
Our school dress expectations remain in effect each day.
•No bonnets, durags, beanies, skull caps, or unauthorized head coverings inside the building unless worn for religious purposes.
•Absolutely no pajamas.
•Shoes must have a secure back strap for safety.
•Students should arrive appropriately dressed and ready for learning.
❤️ PARENTS, YOUR PARTNERSHIP MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Thank you for continuing to partner with us. Please continue having conversations with your student about attendance, punctuality, grades, completing assignments, behavior, cell phone expectations, and making positive choices.
Students, we are already entering Week 5. Don't wait until progress reports or the end of the grading period to make adjustments.
SHOW UP. BE ON TIME. CHECK YOUR GRADES. DO THE WORK. STAY FOCUSED. FINISH STRONG.
Let's have another great week at The Rock!
Stronger Together – One Team. One Vision. One Stone Mountain.
Respectfully,
Rickey L. Wright Jr.
