Dear Stone Mountain High School Students and Families,

Welcome to Week 7 at The Rock! We are continuing to build momentum as we move deeper into the first semester. Thank you to our students for continuing to work hard and to our parents and guardians for your ongoing partnership and support.

Our focus this week is simple:

Stay Engaged. Stay Focused. Stay on Track.

📢 IMPORTANT: MASTER SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you and your family are having a successful start to the school year. We want to make you aware of upcoming adjustments to our Master Schedule that may impact your student's current class schedule.

As we approach our official Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) count period, we are reviewing current student enrollment, staffing allocations, and class sizes. FTE counts are important because they help determine the funding and staffing resources allocated to our school based on the students we serve.

Due to lower-than-projected enrollment and necessary personnel adjustments, changes to our Master Schedule are required. These adjustments may result in:

• Some courses being consolidated.

• Teachers being reassigned.

• Students being moved to different class sections.

We recognize that students have established routines and relationships with their teachers and classmates, and we understand that schedule changes during the school year can be challenging.

Please know that these decisions are not being made lightly. Our administrative and counseling teams are working carefully to minimize disruptions while ensuring we maintain appropriate class sizes, meet instructional and program requirements, and use our available staffing resources responsibly.

All necessary Master Schedule adjustments are expected to be finalized by Friday, September 18, 2026.

Students and families will be notified of any changes that directly affect their schedules. Because these adjustments are being made in response to enrollment, staffing, and schoolwide scheduling needs, our ability to accommodate requests to return students to previous teachers or class sections may be limited.

We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we complete this process. Our priority remains providing every student with a safe, supportive, and academically appropriate learning environment.

⏰ ARRIVE BY 8:10 A.M. – ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Parents and guardians, please continue helping us ensure students arrive on campus by 8:10 a.m. each morning.

Students who arrive late miss valuable instructional time and can quickly fall behind. Students should also transition directly to their classes and arrive on time for every class period throughout the day.

Every day matters. Every class matters. Every minute matters.

📚 CHECK YOUR GRADES – STAY ON TRACK!

Students, we are already in Week 7. This is an important time to know exactly where you stand academically.

Students should:

• Check Infinite Campus regularly.

• Review grades in every class.

• Complete and submit assignments on time.

• Address missing assignments when permitted.

• Communicate with teachers when assistance is needed.

• Take advantage of tutorials and academic support.

Parents and guardians, please continue monitoring your student's academic progress. Don't wait until the end of the grading period to address academic concerns.

📵 DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT

Our Disconnect to Reconnect expectations continue. Students are expected to follow all cell phone procedures throughout the instructional day.

Classrooms are equipped with cell phone pouches to help maintain focused, distraction-free learning environments.

Disconnect from the device. Reconnect with your education.

🚫 REMEMBER THE 20/20 RULE

Students, hall passes are not issued during the first 20 minutes or the last 20 minutes of class.

Please plan accordingly, remain in class, and follow teacher directions regarding hall passes.

🎒 CLEAR OR MESH BOOK BAGS

All student book bags must continue to be clear or mesh. Students should arrive each day prepared with the materials necessary for learning.

👕 DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Please continue following our school dress expectations each day:

• No bonnets, durags, beanies, skull caps, or unauthorized head coverings inside the building unless worn for religious purposes.

• Absolutely no pajamas.

• Shoes must have a secure back strap for safety.

• Students should arrive appropriately dressed and prepared for learning.

Please continue talking with your student about attendance, punctuality, academics, behavior, cell phone expectations, dress code, and making positive choices.

Students, even if your schedule changes, our expectations and commitment to your success remain the same. Stay positive, remain flexible, and continue giving your best effort.
