UPCOMING EVENTS

NATIONAL STEM DAY - November 8th

The goal is to make sure our students have an established understanding of what STEM learning entails and begin brainstorming ideas for team-based Soapbox cars that will be built and modified throughout the year, and then raced in May.  Students will be encouraged to collaborate on their own designs and to use materials they may already have at home (a wonderful opportunity to highlight the importance of recycling 😉).

Sphero Race Day - December

The goal is to make sure our students use their coding skills to make their Sphero around a racetrack. Sphero transforms the way kids PK–12 learn with a fun, comprehensive approach to STEAM (that's STEM + Art) and computer science. The coding robots, design-and-build kits, curriculum, and engaging lessons and activities encourage exploration, imagination, and perseverance.

PAST EVENTS

National STEM Challenge!!!

MAD-Learn APP Challenge - This is not mandatory, but I have added an overview and links to the rules and previous winners for those who are interested! I am here to assist any who are up to the challenge!

Don’t miss out on the chance for your students to enter this engaging, challenging and fun competition! The Congressional App Challenge is underway and the deadline to enter is fast approaching. Middle and high school students have until Nov. 1, 2023 to enter apps in this national contest that started as a way to encourage students to learn code and inspire them to pursue careers in computer science. MAD-learn had the privilege of attending the House of Code event in April to meet last year’s winners and to say we were impressed is an understatement. Learn more about this exciting and prestigious competition and guidelines here.
