About PALMS
PALMS (Perpetual Acts of Light and Mercy for Souls) is a Catholic Lay Apostolate dedicated to praying for the souls in Purgatory through the offering of Holy Masses and spiritual works of mercy. Inspired by centuries-old Catholic tradition and the profound teachings of the Church, PALMS seeks to bring light, hope, and mercy to the faithful departed, especially those who are forgotten or in great need of prayer.
At the heart of our mission is the Spiritual Work of Mercy to pray for the living and the dead — a sacred duty entrusted to all the faithful (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2447). Through your Mass intentions and prayers, we unite with the Church’s mission to assist souls on their journey toward eternal life.
“The Church rightly honors the memory of the dead and offers prayers in suffrage for them, so that, thus purified, they may attain the beatific vision of God.”
— Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1032
PALMS Catholic Lay Apostolate draws special inspiration from the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, the Apostle of Divine Mercy, who reminds us of God’s immense mercy and the power of prayer for souls in purgatory:
“At the hour of their death, the souls of those who have glorified My mercy will participate in the fullness of My mercy... My mercy is greater than the sins of man, and it embraces all of their faults and weaknesses.”
— Diary of Saint Faustina, 811
By offering Masses and prayers, you participate in a living ministry of charity — extending Christ’s mercy beyond this life, helping souls to be purified and welcomed into eternal light. PALMS can help facilitate this spiritual work by connecting you with opportunities to support the faithful departed through Mass offerings, prayer intentions, and other acts of mercy rooted in Catholic tradition.
“By prayer and by works of charity, the Church cares for the souls detained in purgatory, helping them to attain the light of Heaven.”
— Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1031
Together, we form a community united in faith, hope, and love — carrying out the spiritual works of mercy with devotion and reverence, so no soul is forgotten, and every light shines bright.
“I saw my Guardian Angel, who ordered me to follow him. In a moment I was in a misty place full of fire in which there was a great crowd of suffering souls. They were praying fervently, but to no avail for themselves; only we can come to their aid. The flames which were burning them did not touch me at all. My Guardian Angel did not leave me for a single moment. And I asked these souls what their greatest torment was. They answered me in one voice that their greatest torment was longing for God.”
“I saw Our Lady visiting the souls in Purgatory. The souls call her ‘The Star of the Sea.’ She brings them refreshment. I wanted to talk with them some more, but my Guardian Angel beckoned me to leave. We went out of that prison of suffering. I heard an interior voice, which said, ‘My mercy does not want this, but justice demands it. Since that time I am in closer communion with the suffering souls.’”
— Saint Faustina, Diary, Entry 20
At PALMS, we take to heart Saint Faustina’s vision and her personal mission of mercy for the suffering souls in purgatory. Her revelation — that “only we can come to their aid” — is the very foundation of our apostolate.
Through Mass intentions, daily prayer, and the spiritual works of mercy, we offer light to those who are longing for God but cannot help themselves. Inspired by the Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we too want to bring refreshment and hope to the poor souls through the sacrifice of the Mass, the greatest act of mercy we can offer.
At PALMS, every Mass offered and every prayer shared is a Perpetual Act of Light and Mercy for Souls — rooted in the Church’s teaching, and guided by Divine Mercy.
About the Founder
PALMS was founded on July 7, 2025, the first day of the Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a date rich in spiritual significance, invoking the powerful intercession of Our Lady for the Holy Souls. PALMS Catholic Lay Apostolate was born from a deep desire to offer perpetual light and mercy through prayer and Masses for the souls in purgatory.
