When my daughter was a baby, she stayed home with me. But as she got older I knew she needed more activities than I could provide. I was very nervous about placing her in childcare, but I couldn’t be happier with our decision to enroll her at the YMCA Moore Center. Courtney and Shara, the childcare and Moore Center directors, are kind, attentive, and professional. And my daughter absolutely loves her teacher, who pours her heart into every child. "Since our daughter Blakely started in the Puffin room with the Beechland Early Learning Center, we have known she has been receiving excellent care. The teachers in the Puffin Room have been so communicative, helpful, and genuinely care about my daughter. I cannot say enough how wonderful they have been, even offering feeding and sleeping tips, teething remedies, and even sometimes just a kind word to put us as parents at ease to the tune of “we see it all the time, that’s totally normal.” The teachers and team at Beechland hear our concerns and act on them if we have any, and are constantly making sure that we as parents feel that Blakely is getting every bit of care when and how we would prefer it. "What can I say — Beechland has been part of Natalie’s life since she was just three months adjusted. She was born early, and having a daycare that truly understood our situation has meant the world to us. Natalie is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids when she’s awake, removing them only when she sleeps. Beechland has always gone above and beyond to meet all of her needs.
There have been many changes over the years, but Natalie has enjoyed each and every one of her teachers. Seeing how much love and care they show her has been incredible. Beechland has been willing to do whatever it takes to ensure Natalie thrives. My son would come to vacation camp and school age programming everyday if he could. He has grown up at the Y so he has seen many different staff but each and every year there have been staff that have been dedicated and invested in building a strong relationship with my son. He has always felt at home in the program even as a kid from an outside school district. The staff work hard to make sure he feels that. The program is always creatively engaging, exciting and age appropriate. When I don't sign him up he is disappointed. This is his last year as he ages out and we are both feeling the sadness of this. What this program has meant to my son is not something I can really write into words. Every child and family should be so lucky to be a part of the Down East Family YMCA school age program.
