Projects

Vocational Service

Adopt-a-Class - This partnership with Mrs. Gartland's 3rd grade class at Windsor Elementary School provides the opportunity for students to learn about the careers of individual Rotarians, participate in a Rotary Club meeting, and to raise funds for an orphan home in Haiti.

High School Scholarships - Each year, two scholarships are provided for graduating seniors.

Interact - The DeForest Area High School Interact Club brings together high school students to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.  DeForest Area Rotary and DAHS Interact members work side by side to take action through service.

International Service

Books Around the World  - An international literacy project which ships used books from the USA to more than 25 developing countries. Our local club has donated hundreds of books and desks to the program. More information

World Affairs Seminar - Each year, DeForest Area Rotary Club sponsors two high school juniors to attend the World Affairs Seminar at UW-Whitewater.

PolioPlus - The DeForest Area Rotary Club contributes annually to the international PolioPlus initiative in the hopes of eradicating polio throughout the world. Funds are generated through fund raising and individual member contributions. Recent Purple Pinkie campaigns have increased awareness and funds!

Youth Exchange - The DeForest Area Rotary Club helps to support students interested in the opportunity to meet people from other lands and to experience their cultures through the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program.

Community Service

Blood Drive - Each year Rotarians sponsor three community Red Cross blood drives at the Comfort Inn & Suites.

Poinsettias & Cheese - Rotarians sell poinsettia plants and cheese boxes in November to raise funds for local service projects.

Road Clean-Up - DeForest Area Rotarians spend two afternoons per year picking up trash along Portage Road.

Yahara Riverfest - DeForest Rotarians volunteer at this annual event held at Conservancy Place Park (www.YaharaRiverfest.com). By selling kids meals during the event, funds have been raised for local scholarships and donations to the DeForest Area Needs Network.

Club Service

Social Activities - Rotarians try to plan at least one social activity each year where spouses/significant others are also invited.

Membership - Club members continually spread the Rotary message of "service to others" and recruit new members for the DeForest Area Club.
