Previously served as coordinator of the Business Department, coordinator of School/Industry Partnership Programs, coordinator of the Internship Program, executive officer of the teachers’ union, member of the district-wide curriculum committee, member of interview committees, conflict mediator, golf, softball and kickline coach, class advisor, yearbook advisor, and Honor Society advisor.
Previous duties included: Coordinating school/industry partnership programs such as career days, shadowing days, Junior Achievement of NY High School Heroes Program, young women's leadership conferences, and school/industry advisory board meetings; and coordinating all school-to-work transition programs such as cooperative work experiences and internships. As department coordinator, responsibilities included: Assisting in administering uniform exams, coordinating awards programs, preparing departmental budgets, scheduling, ordering supplies, developing curriculum, representing department at department functions, and mentoring teachers. Negotiated employment contracts as executive officer of teachers' union.
Awards and recognitions include: Harvard Club of Long Island Distinguished Teacher Award, winner of B.O.C.E.S. Teacher Technology Integration Award, awarded ASSET (Association of Suffolk Supervisors for Educational Technologies) Teacher Recognition Award, voted favorite teacher numerous graduating classes, nominated to be listed in Who’s Who Among American Teachers on several occasions; received $10,000 grant from Long Island School-to-Career Partnership for developing an internship program; and received a mini-grant from same organization to develop partnerships with local businesses to work in our business classes. Won MSG Varsity V-Award from Cablevision for Best School Coverage.
