In the 2019 wargames, the Umpire force experienced a challenge in managing the responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), with it being quite easy for RFIs to fall through the cracks.
A white-board based system was introduced by the umpires to track the RFIs. In Spring 2021 support has been added to centrally manage the RFIs.
This new capability provides a review process whereby only a suitably qualified user can release the RFIs back to the players.
Here are the perceived requirements for the RFI capability.
The following diagram gives an overview of the flow through RFIs
Players interact with the RFIs from the dedicated RFI channels that the Game Designer has created.
A dedicated RFI form allows them to provide both a Title field (used for referring to the RFI) and the Request itself.
When an RFI is submitted, Serge generates a new unique reference number for that force, such as Blue-5
When a member of the Umpire force sees the RFI channel, they are provided with extra buttons, to allow them to do one of these actions:
Take ownership of an unallocated RFI
Save their current draft response
Submit their response for review
An RFI manager is able to:
Reject a response, which makes it unallocated
Release a response, which sends it back to the player
But the Umpire Force are able to monitor all RFIs through membership of a special "RFIs" channel.
Here is a video walkthrough.
