THE WORLD’S LEADING ARTISANS
GATHER IN LONDON THIS MAY
Over the past decade London Craft Week has grown into an international design event—an easier to manage Milan, if you will, with demos, workshops, studio visits, pop-up shows, and more, featured across the city.
It's an amazing opportunity to discover emerging producers, while also getting behind-the-scenes insight into major international brands.
We’re still finalizing our specific itinerary, but you can be sure it will include our signature Decor Tours mix of private appointments, exclusive access, amazing discoveries, and some exceptional surprises!
To provide everyone with the best possible experience, this tour is limited to 10 guests.
Please note: This itinerary is subject to change, due to availability of private tour access, possible new options, and other considerations.
Day One
Our first group appointment will be in the afternoon, a guided tour of “Beyond the Brim” a special exhibition curated by the British Hat Guild in association with The Worshipful Company of Feltmakers, highlighting the artistry of contemporary hat makers.
And then what better way to follow this wonderfully British showcase than a relaxing afternoon tea in a stunning landmarked building!
Day Two
Today’s working agenda includes a visit to the world-famous V&A, where the galleries will come to life, featuring demonstrations on silversmithing, weaving, ceramics, and more.
We’ll also go to Cromwell Place, a cultural hub which will feature a roster of international artisans working in metal, enamel, fiber, glass, and other media.
Plus, special appointments to be added as we confirm!
Day Three, Morning
We’ll spend the morning at Hampton Court Palace, its history intertwined with the Tudors, the Stuarts, and other British rulers.
For those who are interested, there’s the option of taking a half-day class with an instructor from the Royal School of Needlework, the studios of which are based on site. This class is an additional $200 pp and is scheduled from 10 am-1 pm; you can select this on the registration form.
Day Three, Afternoon
By the afternoon we will be deep into the Pimlico Road Design District.
The showrooms—Robert Kime, Ochre, Soane Britain, Howe, Sibyl Colfax, Cox London, Rose Uniacke, and many more—will feature guest artists and special exhibitions, while hosting drinks, talks, and demos.
And again, special appointments to be added as we confirm!
Day Four
We plan on being all over the city today—a visit to the curated emerging talents show Future Icons, then over to the galleries at Oxo Tower, and finally to Frieze London for a special viewing of contemporary designers, exceptional craftspeople, and fascinating collaborations from around the world.
Again, special appointments to be added as we confirm!
Day Five
Because the LCW programming has yet to finalized, we’ve left today open—for now!
But we have some really wonderful plans in the works, or, let us know what you might be interested in, and we can help put together a go-to list especially for you!
Day Six
By this point in the week, you’ll have seen a lot of London, but there’s so much more...
• Explore the city’s famous markets—Portobello Road and Jubilee for antiques; Borough and Maltby Street markets for food, and many others
• Get in some retail (therapy, inspiration, your call) at the flagship locations of Selfridges, Harrod’s, Harvey Nichols, or Liberty of London.
• Or go the boutique route in Knightsbridge and Belgravia
• Perhaps you prefer to get to a few of the many wonderfully unique museums and galleries the city has to offer
• Or maybe you want to see more of what London Craft Week has to offer, as many events are running through the weekend.
Just let us know…
We’re staying at the Sheraton Park Lane, right across the street from Hyde Park and just a few blocks from some of London’s best shopping!
Because we’re still working on the itinerary, we can’t confirm too many details yet, but definitely included are:
• Six nights, shared room at the Sheraton Park Lane, a five-star hotel. (Single occupancy available at a surcharge.)
• Access to the member’s club lounge for breakfast, snacks, etc.
• Transfers to/from your arrival/departure location and the hotel.
• All group transportation to group appointments
• Oyster card for trips on the Metro London transit system
• And much more to come!
WHY TRAVEL WITH US?
We’ve been traveling to Europe for design events for more than 20 years—and bringing fellow designers there for more than decade. We have the experience, the contacts, and the desire to make your Decor Tours trip truly worth your time. Just ask any of our many repeat clients!
Let us know if there are specific needs or interests you’d like to address while in London so we can work with you to make every day extraordinary.
I am so pleased with my investment in what was, for me, primarily a business development trip with a hearty side of creative inspiration, great food, and culture. Deb and Susan were fantastic guides who planned the itinerary with great care, honoring the interests/goals of the group and making individual bookings for those of us who requested them. They provided context and extensive travel education during and in advance so all participants were able to make the most of the trip. I am really impressed by the package they put together! Highly recommended!–Jeanne Henzel, Joona Fabriculture, Oakland, CA
NOT READY TO LEAVE?
Heads up! We’re working on an wonderful extra day.
We head to the English Channel for a day trip to Brighton, including a guided tour of the Royal Pavilion. NOTE: If you haven’t been, don’t Google it so you can jaw-drop everything. Trust us!
Brighton is also home to a thriving artists’ community and if the timing permits, we hope to squeeze in a studio visit or two. But what will definitely be available are the great shoppiing opportunties in the city’s famous pedestrian access area The Lanes; along with the vintage and antique district North Laine.
It will be a long day trip from London—private transportation, guide, fees, lunch, and snacks all included.
Note: Itinerary subject to change based on issues and circumstances beyond the control of Decor Tours. This day will require a separately charged day rate and an additional night's hotel stay.
