Thank you for your interest in signing up to assist at our tournaments, without you we would not have our debate tournaments. Because of our volunteers, we are the largest debate league in the nation! So thank you for supporting our mission that all schools and all students should have access to debate, which is one of the most powerful academic programs for college, career, and civic success.

Volunteer Opportunities Description

(1) Judges. Judge debates. No experience is required. Create a Tabroom account. Training and guidelines will be provided.

(2) Hospitality Volunteers. Set up space to serve breakfast, lunch, and smiles. Final clean up from breakfast and lunch.

• Cafeteria - Serving coaches and students.

• Judge Room - Serving judges and staff in the judge's room.

(3) Floor Managers. Greet all tournament attendees. Direct people to Registration Desks. Put up signs. Walk the halls and answer questions. Move tournament attendees to the auditorium for awards. Ensure halls and rooms are good.

(4) Photographers. Take photos during the tournament. Bring own camera. Forward photos to volunteer coordinator.

(5) Set up volunteers. Volunteers the day before the tournament (Advised change will occur due to school breaks). Pack and unpack materials for the tournament. Move materials from office to uber and uber to tabroom. For questions contact volunteer coordinator.

• Office - Help with making materials. Organize materials. Pack materials. Transport materials to uber. Preferable to be close to office location.

• Location - Transport materials to tabroom. Unpack materials. Find where is everything. Ideally a student from the school that will be hosting the tournament. Preferable to live close to tournament location.

About Volunteering

• Breakfast and Lunch would be provided.

• Hospitality, Floor Manager, Photographer and Tabroom Volunteers should come at 7:00 am.

• Judges should arrive by 8:30 am to register for Round 1.

• Judges bring laptops to fill out e-ballots and a portable charger.

• Judges bring papers, pen, and timekeeping devices (e.g., phone, stopwatch, timer, etc.) for debates.

• Lastly, we will add you to our newsletter, and invite you to our meetings, special events, and more!
