Volunteer Waiver and Code of Conduct
The New York City Urban Debate League has had a long and successful history of excellence in the areas of speaking and debating. In order to maintain this high reputation, we expect our students, teachers, faculty, volunteers, staff, and all participants to conduct themselves at all times and will also abide by all competition rules as outlined by invitational tournament officials, the National Forensics League, the National Catholic Forensics League, Metro Hudson Debate, and the New York State Debate Coaches Association. Participants are also expected to follow their School and New York City Department of Education student codes of conduct. Moral and Ethical Conduct: Participants attending all NYCUDL events will continuously act in a manner that exhibits the highest standards of honor and morality. There is zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, violence, dishonorable actions, or any violations of proper behavior. We would not have a debate league without an incredible community of supporters, and we would not have the opportunity to travel and debate without debate scholarships, and so at no time should participants disparage volunteers, judges, host families and schools, the NYCUDL and NYCUDL staff, teachers and other students. Alcohol, Drugs, and other abuse: Under no circumstances will the possession or consumption of drugs or alcohol be tolerated. Waiver Parents/Guardians, please read and sign for minors participating as volunteers. Adults, please read and sign for joining.
