Abaddon, an angel, is seeking a purpose of her own. God has dismissed her, so when it comes time to choose a side in the battle, she goes against him and falls from Grace. She now has nothing. Since God will not allow her back into Heaven, she takes the only thing he gives her which is the paltry job of escorting souls to the River Styx. The title that comes with the job becomes her identity, Death. She wants more, always has; she prays for direction, but there is nothing. She is tired of aimlessly drifting around and waiting for any kind of an answer. One of the souls she has to walk over is Silas. He has taken his life and is waiting for Death (Abaddon). She makes a judgement call that ruins his plan of who is supposed to find his body and forces him into one last conversation. She makes another judgement call out of wanting to protect Sarah, a woman from a town Death has taken to hanging out in; in which she robs Sarah of what would have been a cherished memory.
