We have a wonderful gymnasium at Lakewoods P.S. which is run by Mr. Mortley, our full-time Physical Education teacher. Our kindergarten classes typically access the gymnasium for an organized Physical Education period 3 times per week and access to outdoor activities daily.
Daily Physical Activity is recommended for 20 minutes each day. Click on the button to learn more.
We have a beautiful library at Lakewoods run by wonderful volunteers from our Lakewoods community. The Kindergarten Educators schedule time each week to access the library and allow our students to explore the books and stay for a read-a-long!

The staff at Lakewoods value the importance of teaching our students self-regulation skills. Students of all ages are taught to ask educators and support staff for help when they feel stressed or over-whelmed. A commonly used self-regulation strategy is simply taking three deep breaths. Other times, a walk to the library, use of our hallway obstacle course, or a trip to the Lakehouse is the preferred calming strategy. The Lakehouse is a room in our school where students can choose to bounce on soft cushions or just curl up and be still while listening to soothing music.
The Marsh
We are always excited to see the beautiful swans that make their home here every year.
We use the G.L. Roberts track for our Physical Education classes, and Terry Fox Run.
When the weather is beautiful, we sometimes take a walk to the beach behind our school.
We think we have the most beautiful backyard play area in all of Oshawa.
