We truly value the collaboration between Families and Educators at Brooklin Village PS. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us so we can problem solve together! We look forward to welcoming your child to the beginning of their educational career, and look forward to meeting with you. As parents/guardians, you are the most important person in your child's life and we want to work with you so your child can reach his or her fullest potential!
On the first day, the school will be VERY busy. Brooklin Village has approximately 750 students so you can imagine how full and congested the parking lot and school yard will be.
Kindergarten students should be escorted to the fenced Kindergarten yard. The educators will be outside by 8:55 AM to greet the students and organize them into classroom lines.
Please locate your child's educators to let them know your child has arrived and to confirm pick-up for the end of the day. Once your child is in the yard they are unable to leave, so make sure you take pictures and give hug & kisses before sending them through the gate.
When you say goodbye to your child on the first day, make it quick, light and reassuring. Your child will be reassured by a warm hug and a reminder that you, or the usual caregiver, will be there after school is finished. If you have feelings of anxiety and worry, try not to show those to your child.
A backpack - with enough room to fit:
A lunch (with containers your child can open by themselves)
Two snacks (one for morning and one for afternoon)
Water bottle (with your child's name on it)
Indoor running shoes with VELCRO, labelled with your child's name (for gym and class, that can be kept at school)
Extra change of clothes (labelled with your child's name, in a bag to leave at school)
Outdoor shoes/boots that are weather appropriate and they can handle independently.
A smile!
