In most Full-day Kindergarten classrooms there are two educators working together as a team to deliver the kindergarten program. Both members have specific skill sets that compliment each other when creating the learning environment to support all children in the class.
There is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), who has the knowledge and expertise for planning and delivering the curriculum content, and there is a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE), that has education focused on child development for ages birth to six years.
Both educators plan and implement the learning activities and are available to answer any questions you may have.
In some cases, there will be small classes with 15 children or less with only one OCT in the room.
