The Grade 11 Outdoor Education program at USS is unique in that students will be eligible to receive credits for two different high school courses (PAD 301 and CGR 4M1), a credit from Fleming College (Ecosystem Skills), participate in field trip excursions and gain certifications that count toward the Environment Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM).
A Grade 12 Outdoor Education course (PLF 4M1) is also offered for senior level students to pursue more advanced wilderness outdoor and leadership experiences.
Megan Hanacek
Megan is a professional forester and biologist based out of British Columbia. She was also a finalist on the History Channel show Alone. Megan is an expert on survival skills and shared her experiences with our class.

Director at Sustainalytics, Trevor advises some of the world’s largest investors how to develop responsible investment strategies with environmental principles in mind. Trevor was one of the Clean 50 Emerging Leaders in 2019.

Fleming College instructor and author of 15 books about the outdoors. Kevin is a columnist for Explore Magazine and a regular guest on CBC Radio.
