Our Visual Arts Enriched Program is open to O’Neill area students who will be attending OCVI for their Grade 9 year, and have a keen interest in studying the Visual Arts.
To apply for our Enriched Visual Arts Program starting in grade 9, you must:
be attending O’Neill starting in grade 9
be currently enrolled at one of our Family of Schools and be in our catchment area (Beau Valley, Coronation, Dr. S.J. Phillips, Sunset Heights, Hillsdale, Kedron, Northern Dancer, Mary Street and Queen Elizabeth Public Schools).
Please note that students attending these schools may be attending a high school other than O'Neill in their grade 9 year in 2026 as there is a current boundary review being conducted. Please use the Find My School tool below to confirm your ability to enroll in grade 9 at O'Neill and know that the boundaries may change for the 2026-27 school year.
The Proposed Boundary Map for 2026-27 can be found at the link below. With these new boundaries students from Kedron and Northern Dancer will be attending the new school in North Oshawa and will therefore be unable to apply in grade 9: https://www.ddsb.ca/en/about-ddsb/resources/Documents/Boundary-and-Program-Reviews/Unnamed-North-Oshawa-SS/Unnamed-North-Oshawa-SS-Boundary-Consultation-Proposed-Map.pdf
or be moving into the O'Neill catchment area and will be registered at O'Neill for your grade 9 year. You will be required to show proof of address.
Please use the Find My School tool provided on the DDSB website to confirm O'Neill as your home high school before applying to our visual arts program: https://www.ddsb.ca/en/our-schools/find-a-school.aspx
The O’Neill Enriched Art program is not just for students who plan to have a career in Art related fields. We invite all students who have an interest and passion in the Arts to apply for an opportunity to experience the benefits of an Arts education. Studies in Art foster creative thinking and problem solving skills, self-expression and confidence while teaching a respect for the ideas of others and yourself. Many of our students also find being a part of our Art Program helps to create a balance within their busy high school years.
All students must apply for entrance in to our Enriched Art Program. This program allows you access to our enriched level courses, and gives you the opportunity to enroll in two visual art classes each grade year.
