The role of the Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) is to support all students' education across all grades and subjects, to mentor our staff and to advocate for the needs of your child.
Working with students, staff, Board personnel and parents/guardians to support self-regulation, increased independence and student success.
Co-planning accommodations, modifications and behavioural goals of individual students.
Working with parents/guardians and staff to support students' needs through in class observation, modelling, assessment, monitoring and communication.
Co-creating and updating a student support plan as needed.
Collaborating with teachers and board staff to support accommodations for learning.
Initiating, developing, organizing and maintaining records of referrals, consent forms, case conferences and IPRC meetings.
