The action of staying away from school without good reason; absenteeism.

When is my child considered truancy from school?

Georgia’s Compulsory School Attendance Law 20-2-690 states that more than five (5) unexcused absences constitute truancy.

What happens if my child is truant?

Typically the school social worker will intervene when a student is truant from school. Continued unexcused absences could lead to court involvement.
