Summer Opportunties
Summer CAMP
Summer Camp is an innovative approach to summer learning featuring Lit. Camp, Math Camp, STEM, and Art activities combine engaging lessons with an interactive camp approach for your child.
Students who are invited to summer camp will receive a letter and registration form from their school.

Who are the teachers? Certified DCSS teachers
What are the subject areas? Reading, math, and writing
How are students selected? They are invited by the school based on data, teacher recommendations, and needs. Invitations for summer learning will be sent by your local school.
Can my child miss any days? Due to the short amount of time. It is important that your child attends Summer Learning for the entire 11 days to benefit from the program.

What if my child is in one of these programs?
FLEX Academy
Students will attend BASE School.
The Flex Academy will identify students (follow the same criteria as the schools) and send completed paperwork to the schools.
Program for Exceptional Children
Special education services and accommodations will be provided for students with an IEP based on the individual needs of the student.
ESOL-Title III
Students will be served in a pull-out or push-in model by the ESOL teacher
Immigrant Title III
Newcomer/Immigrant (Not born in the United States, enrolled in a U.S. school for 3 years or less) served in the resource model by ESOL teacher.
21st Century Community Learning Center Grants (21st CCLC)
Only at schools who have been awarded a grant.
Currently enrolled participants in the school year 21st CCLC grant programs at their respective schools.

Getting ConNected
BrainPop is an educational website with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12, together with quizzes and related materials. The videos cover the subjects of science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music.
Flocabulary is a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum. Students can access activities focusing on GA Standards, language arts, math, science, social studies, vocabulary, and life skills.
Algebra I Prep Summer Lift-OFF
June 5th-JUly 28th
Algebra Liftoff is a preview course for high school Algebra I.
Approximately 200 8th-grade students have been invited to take Algebra Liftoff over the summer.
Asynchronous learning allows the students to learn independently through Edmentum for Algebra Readiness.
DCSS High School Math Teachers will have virtual office hours to meet with students and/or parents. Students will be given a pre and post-test to measure growth and must work on the platform at least 10 hours a week.
If students complete the course with a C or better, they will earn a $250.00 stipend for attending and completing the course.
