Testing

Students planning on attending a four-year college or university should take the ACT and/or SAT. Some colleges also require the writing test from the ACT/SAT. These are two different types of tests and you may score better or like one more than the other.

If going to a technical school or some schools with associate degrees only, some will require you to take the Accuplacer. If you score high enough on SAT or ACT you may not be required to take the Accuplacer. The Accuplacer is given at West Georgia Technical College in Douglasville every Wednesday up until 5pm. Douglas County High School Students can take it the first time for free. If they do not pass all sections (Reading, Writing, Math, & Algebra) they will have to pay to retake that section. Some other schools will make you take the Accuplacer at their school. You will need to check with the college or technical school to see. It is administered twice a year at DCHS. Once in the Fall and again in the Spring. It is first come, first served with 100 students max (10th-12th grade) able to test each time. See the daily announcements about when to sign up.
