Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! My name is Mrs. Lisa Maslow, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the 5th grade Special Education support teacher at JYKDCS. With 25 years of experience in special education, I come to this role with a deep love for this work and a genuine commitment to every student I have the privilege of supporting. Many of you may already know me — I have spent the past three years here at the school as the Social Skills Instructor, and it has been such a joy to become part of this community. This year marks an exciting new chapter for me as I step into the 5th grade special education role, and I could not be more enthusiastic about it.
In this role, I work collaboratively alongside 5th grade classroom teachers to support students with individualized learning needs — both within the general education classroom and in small group or pull-out settings. My background in social skills instruction very much shapes the way I work: I take a strengths-based, whole-child approach that attends not only to academic growth, but also to the social-emotional skills that help students truly thrive. I believe the partnership between families and school is one of the greatest supports we can offer a child, and my door is always open. Please do not hesitate to reach out anytime at lmaslow@dcsschool.com
I am so excited to step into this new role and to continue serving the JYKDCS community in a new capacity. Whether your family knows me from my years as the Social Skills Instructor or we are meeting for the first time, I look forward to getting to know your child and building a wonderful partnership with you this year. Here's to a fantastic 2026–2027!
