Hello! My name is Alexa Elder and I am so excited to be your child’s second grade teacher this year. I graduated from High Point University with my Master’s degree in Elementary Literacy and Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. It is my first year at Discovery and I cannot wait for the year ahead. I believe that the best classrooms are filled with curiosity, kindness, laughter, and a love for learning. I strive to create a classroom where all students feel safe to make mistakes, try new things, and be themselves. 

A little about me outside the classroom: I love reading, trying new coffee shops, spending time with my family, and traveling. My favorite trip was to South Africa where I got to explore local culture and teach at an elementary school for a week.
