Greetings 5th Grade Families,
We are excited to welcome you and your child to 5th grade for the 2025–2026 school year! As we begin this journey together, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of consistent practice and engagement in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and science.
We encourage regular use of reading logs, journaling, and math practice at home. Students should select books that capture their interest, complete summary sheets after independent reading, and explore their local library for additional resources. In mathematics, we ask families to continue reviewing core skills such as multiplication facts, division, and multi-digit addition and subtraction, as these provide a strong foundation for higher-level problem solving.
This year, we will also place a strong emphasis on science, as it is included on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). Building strong science skills will help ensure that students are confident and prepared for this important state assessment.
One of the most memorable experiences planned for this year will be our trip to Canada, which will focus on the legacy of the Underground Railroad.
We are truly excited to partner with you in supporting your child’s growth, curiosity, and academic success. Together, we can ensure that this school year is both productive and inspiring for our 5th grade scholars.
Kindly,
The 5th Grade Team
