Transportation for kindergarten students is an important aspect of their daily routine and comes with several key expectations:
Transportation
Please communicate your child’s transportation schedule to their teacher so we can ensure they get where they need to go safely and on time. Please inform your child's teacher if there are any changes to your their regular transportation routine. This includes changes in who will be picking them up or any alternate arrangements.
Identification
Make sure you or anyone designated to pick up your child has the appropriate ID or pass if required.
Emergency Contacts
Ensure that the school has up-to-date emergency contact information. If there’s an unexpected situation, the school needs to be able to reach you or an authorized adult.
Pick-Up/Drop-Off
Please ensure that your child is ready and waiting on time at the designated pick-up or drop-off location, which is the main entrance of Wildcat Mountain Elementary. Arriving on time helps the transportation and dismissal process run smoothly and prevents delays for everyone.
Kindergarten dismisses at 3:25 p.m., five minutes before the older students, to help our students avoid traffic and safely make their way to the front of the school. All three kindergarten classes line up on the left side of the school near the preschool classroom, bench, and flagpole area.
If something comes up and you are unable to be there on time, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. Our staff members sometimes have meetings immediately after dismissal, so advance communication is greatly appreciated.
Pick Up Behavior Expectations
While students are waiting to be picked up, we ask that they stay calm and close to their teacher until they see their grown-up. Dismissal can be a busy time, and this helps us make sure every child gets to the right person safely.
Before leaving, please remind your child to give their teacher a high five. This lets us know that you have arrived and that your child has been safely picked up. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe and organized!
Bus Behavior Expectations
Encourage your child to follow rules while on the bus, such as remaining seated, speaking quietly, and respecting other passengers and the bus driver.
Weather and Road Conditions
Be mindful of weather conditions and any related impact on transportation schedules. Schools may have protocols for delays or cancellations due to severe weather.
