Wonders is designed to foster a love of reading in all children. Through the exploration of texts and daily development of their skills as readers, writers, speakers, and active listeners, students experience the power of literacy. The focus is on teaching the whole child – and every child – preparing students to be lifelong learners and critical thinkers.

Monthly - Independent Reading; students will read and complete a monthly independent book report activity.

The main focus of Sixth Grade Social Studies is on the Western Hemisphere. Students will engage in activities that will cover the geography, history, economics, and civics of the Western Hemisphere.
Geography (Aug-Oct) - Students will learn Latitude and Longitude and compare regions based on geographic tools. Students will also learn and study the political and geographical areas within the Western Hemisphere.
Civics (Oct-Dec) - Students will study the different government systems within the Western Hemisphere and how they interact.
History (Jan-March) - Students will learn about Primary and Secondary sources. Students will examine ancient civilizations of the Western Hemisphere and their interactions.
Economics: (April-May) - Students will learn how different economic systems allocate resources. They will examine how spending decisions impact market economies.
Diagnostics (Fall, Winter, and Spring) help gather important data to specifically identify strengths and weaknesses in literacy content
practice lessons are differentiated for students based on individual needs.
Students should complete 45 minutes and pass two literacy lessons per week by Sunday evening.
