Plan to submit 5-10 questions per book (per team), including answers and page number or reference.

What do I need to know?

Teams of 3-4 students
9 participating DCSD high schools
9 books, divided among team members (you don't have to read them all)

Important dates:

October 10, 2025 : Deadline for teams to form and commit
January 16, 2026 : Questions due
Submit 5-10 questions per book (per team), including answers and page number or reference (submit here)
Saturday, February 7, 2026 : Battle Date
8:00 AM-12:15ish PM at Douglas County High School in Castle Rock. (Plan to arrive by 8:20 am)

This is for me! How do I get involved?

Sign up with Ms. Sjoland in the library.
If you have a team of 3 to 4, just let Ms. Sjoland know that you’re a team.
If you want to participate but don’t have a team, that’s ok! Just sign up with Ms. Sjoland and she’ll help find you a team.
Start reading the books! Depending on your team, you may only need to read 2 or 3… and you have about 4 months! Ms. Sjoland will be getting some extra copies of all of the BoB books.

The 2026 Books

We have all copies in our library, but if you want to purchase your own, we encourage you to to shop local. The Tattered Cover is Denver's own amazing independent book store, and they are big supporters of our schools and our DCSD Battle of the Books event. Show them some love by clicking on the titles below and ordering your books for pickup at Aspen Grove or shipped to your home.
