Q: What does BASE stand for?

Q: What programs does Trailblazer BASE offer?

A: Before School, After School, and Full Days during most school breaks. Check the parent handbook for more specific information about BASE full days.

Q: Who can attend the Trailblazer BASE program?

A: Any child who attends Trailblazer Elementary School may register for the program if space is available.

Q: How old does my child need to be to attend BASE?

A: Children must be a minimum of 5 years and 0 months and a maximum of 13 years and 0 months of age to attend. Children who are 4 years old and going into Kindergarten for the current school year may access the program beginning on the first day of school.

Q: Is there a required number of days my child must attend?

A: No, there is not a required number of days your child must attend.

Q: Does it cost anything for my child to attend?

A: Yes; there is a $75 registration fee, per child, or $100 per family, along with daily tuition in order to utilize the BASE program. View our current pricing here.

Q: What does the tuition pay for?

A: Trailblazer's BASE program is a self-funded, non-profit organization that relies on tuition provided by parents. Tuition covers the cost of staff salaries, supplies, snacks, utilities, field trips, and any other operating costs.

Q: I have 2 children who will attend BASE; do I get a discount?

A: Yes, there is a sibling discount.

Q: I work for the school district; do I get an additional discount?

A: Starting July 1, 2023, staff of Douglas County School District will enjoy 20% off of the scheduled rate for Before & After School. Please note, this discount does not apply if late sign-ups occour. This discount does not apply to full day care.

Q: How do I sign up so my child can utilize the BASE Program?

A: If your child is registered in the BASE program, you may sign your child up through SchoolCare Works. Registration for the following school year will occour in May. You may register anytime after that.

Q: I don't need my child to be in BASE during the school year, but I would like them to attend the Summer Program. Is that OK?

A: Yes, summer registration begins in mid-April. Make sure to check our homepage for updates!

Q: How do I pay for BASE?

A: Payment Calendars and payments are due the Wednesday before services are needed. Payment calendars must be completed for each week before. Once they are turned in, you are contracted for those days. When paying, you may either pay for an entire month, week, or multiple weeks with your payment calendar.

Q: Are changes allowed to be made to my payment calendar?

A: Once you submit your payment calendar you are required to pay for these days. If you wish to add a day, these changes must be approved by Kris to see if we have adequate space for your child. An additional $4.00 $5.00 (Starting July 1, 2023) (Before/After) / $5.00 (Full Day) $6.00 (Starting July 1, 2023) drop-in charge will apply.

Q: Do you guys offer care when the school is closed?

A: Most Likely! We run a Full Day program during most school in-service days, Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break. For specific closure dates, see the Parent Handbook.

Q: My child will need to take medication during BASE hours. How does that process work?

A: In order for your child to take medication, we will need a completed Medical Release Form. Without these forms we are unable to give or provide medication. The medication will be stored in the BASE office and give only by trained BASE staff.
